Reminisce

Waking up before the sun peaks through the curtains, bundling in the warmest winter gear, and racing off to grab the best sled and being greeted by a steaming cup of hot cocoa after a long day of laughing in the snow is just one core memory that dances in my mind when I think of a holiday memory.

Wrapping presents in the prettiest paper with foiled designs, neatly tying bows and writing tags out, all as the fire crackles and the music rings though the room could be another.

For you, it may be making a meal with old family recipes that have been passed down for decades, reading off a tattered card that was written decades ago in handwriting you crave to have swirled on paper near you.

It may be creating holiday magic while everyone sleeps, to keep the fun and thrill of surprises and excitement alive in a world that often feels cold and dreary.

Take a minute, and let yourself reminisce. What’s a holiday memory with my loved one that I cherish — and how does it make me feel now?

The specifics may vary from family to family, relationship to relationship, but the care, the love, the laughter, and the light remain a consistent theme as we all reflect on what once brought us such peace and joy.
