JOY

“If joy visits you today, even for a moment, let it. It’s not a betrayal of your grief—it’s proof of your heart.” ~ Anonymous

If you were able to feel a sense of joy, a moment of solace, a bit of laughter, a moment of hope today, this week, or this holiday season, honor it.

It's easy to get lost in all the ways we feel small. The ways we feel lost. The ways we feel lonely.

Notice the ways you were uplifted.

The family member that made your favorite dish, just in hopes that it would bring you comfort.

The friend that sent a text or shared a post to share a bit of support with you.

The stranger at the checkout buying the last minute ingredients that smiled at you or wished you happy holidays.

The cardinal you saw in the yard.

The laughter that lit up the room when a funny story of your loved one filled the air with love.

The funny meme you saw that distracted you, even if just for a moment.

The pet that chose to sit near you, even when it felt like no one was paying attention.

Whatever that joy was, honor it. Feel it. Make room and acknowledge that you deserve joy, just as much as grief deserves to have it's space.

If you've invited joy in today or not, keep going. You deserve to feel good.

You're not alone in this journey, and you're not forgotten.
