Light in Darkness

"At Christmas, we light candles not to chase away the darkness, but to remind ourselves that even the smallest light still matters."
If you're feeling dread, uncertainty, gloom, or worry about this season, you're not alone. It can be difficult to find joy or excitement for a day or season that feels empty, like something or someone is missing.
Maybe this year, instead of trying to hide the darkness, we can add to the light.
Maybe it's not about chasing the darkness out, but finding even brief moments to check in with ourselves.
Light a candle and say your loved ones name.
Write a note to them, visit a spot they loved, donate time or support to a cause you feel connected to.
Smile at a stranger.
Pay it forward, whether in the drive thru line or with a compliment.

Maybe we can do something in just a few seconds that can add to the light of the world. You may still be sad. You'll probably still miss someone, dread the holiday, or feel a sense of longing. But you won't be doing it alone. Any ounce of adding light will also add connection.
Call a friend, pet a dog, let the sun shine in a bit more. It may not squash the darkness, but it may let a tiny spot of light and hope in. May there be a light in darkness for you today and this season.
You're not alone as you invite love and light in.
