Keep It Simple

It's no secret that there is nothing simple about the holidays. Scheduling get togethers around work schedules, other commitments, and juggling obligations can be enough hassle in itself. Adding in gifts, coordinating meals, decorating, and staying healthy on top of normal life needs can be simply too much. But, does it have to be this way? Do we need to show up to every gathering with piles of gifts, spending hundreds of dollars to have one picture perfect day?
What is one holiday task I can simplify, share with someone, delegate to someone else, or skip altogether?

Maybe the yearly cookie tray is filled with 3 types of cookies, rather than 12. Maybe the gifts are dwindled to one thoughtful gift rather than piles of presents just for the excitement of unwrapping. Maybe the holiday menu could have one or two less side dishes, or be brought by someone else. Maybe the matching outfits for the holiday card are less imperative than the smiling faces on the center of the card.
Finding small ways to shorten your list and keep it simple can lighten the load significantly, giving you more time to focus on what matters most. In a few years, you won't remember the holiday where you forgot to make the green beans, or the year you opened 4 gifts rather than 6. You'll remember the people you spent your days with and the way you felt. Keep it simple!
