Keep Going

Starting a new year can create change in your normal routine. A week or two post holidays, you might still be adjusting. The holidays might have been filled with fake smiles to avoid uncomfortable questions, seeing people who are less than supportive or interacting with people that have caused you pain, or overextending yourself and spreading yourself too thin. Grief can add a layer of stress and take away some of the clarity you might otherwise have. Some days it's hard to see the good things we have around us. It can be difficult to remember what we have and what we appreciate, especially while there are so many things changing around us.

While it can be a challenge to see, the beauty and goodness is still there. Keep going, even on the tough days. There are still favorite songs, hot showers, the smell of fresh baked cookies wafting through the kitchen, and opportunities to connect with trusted people. These things are small, but can be just enough to bring us back to the reality of goodness and light. Whether you can see the goodness around you or not, remember it's still there, and waiting for you when you're ready. The days will soon get brighter, the light will return, and the hope restored. Hang in until you can see it. If fresh baked cookies is enough to bring the light back, even for just a moment, buy the premade cookie dough and indulge in the beauty around you.

Your journey does not stop here, your grief is not forgotten.
