Don't Stop

A change of season or school year can your normal routine. Whether you're surrounded by kids that revolve around a school schedule or you're just adjusting to the different events of summer, it may take time to adapt. The summer season can be overwhelming - seeing people who are less than supportive or interacting with people that have caused you pain, or overextending yourself and spreading yourself too thin, there's layers to this. Grief can add a layer of stress and take away some of the clarity you might otherwise have. Some days it's hard to see the good things we have around us. It can be difficult to remember what we have and what we appreciate, especially while there are so many things changing and growing around us.

While it can be a challenge to see, the beauty and goodness is still there, surrounding you. Keep going, even on the tough days. There are still favorite movies, parks to walk in, baby animals to spot in nature, pool days or hot showers, the smell of fresh baked cookies wafting through the kitchen, and opportunities to connect with trusted people and community.

These things are small, but can be just enough to bring us back to the reality of goodness, beauty, and light. Whether you can see the goodness around you or not, remember it's still there, and waiting for you when you're ready. The days will are warmer, the light will return, and the hope restored. Hang on until you can see it. If watching the baby animals brought by spring bring you joy, find a park or spot in nature and indulge in the beauty around you. Don't stop searching for the good.

Your journey does not stop here. Your grief and your loved one are not forgotten.
