Cover up. Cover up blemishes with make up. Cover up a swim suit when not in the water. Cover up for modest dress codes. Cover up your tattoos for a formal function or event. Cover up the food so it stays fresh. Cover up a stain or spill with a sweater to look more put together. Cover up your true feelings so others aren't uncomfortable. Cover up, cover up, cover up.

There are tons of examples of times we are taught to or expected to cover up.
There can be positives and negatives to each situation and scenario, but how damaging can it be when we cover up our grief? Do you find yourself doing that to protect yourself or make others feel better? This can change based on audience, comfortability levels, locations, and more. May we all find a space to be our true selves, and not have to make ourselves smaller, quieter, or covered up for the sake of safety, making others comfortable, or being brave. Challenge yourself to be a safe space for someone else in their time of covering.
Is there a part of me that wants to hide the grief or “put on a brave face”?
How will you move with your grief this season? We're holding you in our thoughts as you navigate this journey.
