Anticipating Joy

Not everything is going to spark joy. Overcrowded stores, paper cuts on dry skin from cold weather, rushing at the last minute to finish all the tasks, introverts making small talk in awkward grocery store encounters - not every moment of the day will be inspiring or favorable. There will be moments of joy, genuine comfort, and positive encounters. Opening yourself to experiencing them is all you need.

What is one thing I’m looking forward to—even if it’s simple or quiet?
Candy canes passed out from Mall Santa and the elves, a quiet night of cocoa and snow falling outside, wrapping presents with a holiday movie in the background, grabbing coffee or tea with a friend visiting from out of town, the possibilities for joy are nearly endless. Opening your mind, and your heart, to notice and accept these joys are all you need to invite in a bit of peace amidst the chaos. Anticipating joy can be one of the best ways to brighten up your season.
Wishing you comfort and solace during the busiest time of year.
